Summary

This is a spec of a View related feature.

A way to select a pre-defined set of columns. Currently there are only commission presets and this feature, while convenient, is intended to be a workaround for the limitations of the current "Select columns" page.

Category

Presets are available for the following views:

  • Agency
  • Rep
  • Customer
  • Account

Month to month

Displays a column for each run in the selected year for one selected commission variable.

  • The user selects the year to use. All months in the year are shown.

Year to year

The later displays a column for each year in the system for the selected variable.

  • Maximum is 29 years. If there are more than 29 years of commission runs, only show the 29 most recent. This limit is defined in the settings XML file.

Commission variable

The user selects one commission variable for the view. All categories have the following options

  • Net billed
  • Gross comm
  • Agent comm
  • Referral
  • Gross profit
  • Items

Rep views have an additional option

  • Agency payout
    • This is the agent comm for the rep's agency in that period

Columns

The first column is "Agency", "Rep", "Customer", or "Account" depending on the category. The remaining columns are the time periods specified for the presets in ascending order (earliest to latest)

  • The user can then reorder the columns if they want
  • The column name is "{VARIABLE} {PERIOD}". Months don't need years since in a month to month preset all the columns in the view are from the same year.
    • Example: "Net billed March"
    • Example: "Agent comm 2004"

Select columns

These specific month/year commission columns used in the presets are not initially available in the "Select columns" page since the current design on that page can't handle the number of columns that requires.

  • If the user selects a preset it replaces all currently selected columns
  • If the user then clicks "Select columns", the selected preset columns are listed along with all the regularly available columns.
    • The first column ("Agency", etc.) is regularly available so already has a defined position in the list.
    • The other columns from the preset (the commission columns) are listed together at the end of the "Commissions" group of columns.
  • When editing a view with no columns from a preset yet, there will be no preset columns at all in the "Select columns" page.

  • The column presets setup and column use in a view requires different privileges depending on the category:
    • Agents, Reps: "Agent commission reports"
    • Customers, Accounts: "Subscriber commission reports"
