From RPM Wiki
If the template is setup so that starting a form shows required fields only, then there are some additional considerations:
| Table of contents |
Featured fields
- "Featured to start" fields that are populated automatically as part of starting a form will be shown on the Start a Form page in addition to the Required fields.
Field groups
If a required field is hidden or locked by a field group effect when starting or editing a form or starting or editing a repeating field set, the "required" condition for that field will not be enforced. Another way of saying the same thing is that only visible, unlocked fields can be enforced as "required".
Parent/child fields
There are a few things to remember about how "required" and "featured" fields will behave with respect to the Parent/Child reference field relationships.
- If the child field in a Parent/Child set is "required", but the parent reference field is not required, it is possible to get stuck on the Start a Form page when that page is set to show only required fields. RPM will not figure out that it needs to show the parent field.
- If a "featured" field is a child field, and a form is started from a reference, it's parent field must be filled in as well (In RPM, parent references must always be populated before child references). So in that case, if starting a form from a "featured" reference where the template is setup to show only required fields, and where there are required fields, then you will see a listing of the required fields, the (populated) featured fields and their (populated) parent references on the "Start a form" page.
Agent users
When a rep user starts a form, RPM automatically populates any rep and agency fields with values corresponding to the rep and their agency. This is done because these are the only things a rep can possibly choose when they edit a form. When manager users start a form, RPM automatically fills in any Agency fields with the value of the agency to which the manager belongs. So, in the case where there are required fields and the template is set to show only required fields on the Form Start page if an agent user starts a form, they will see both the required fields and one or both of any agency and rep field values automatically populated.
