Importing users

From RPM Wiki

Summary

The rep import and staff import both allow users to be created from an Excel file. This page covers some special rules regarding user creation and updating by imports.

Logon

The "Logon" column sets the access of the user, if their logon is "enabled" or "disabled".

  • Set the cell to "enabled", case insensitive, to enable the user's logon. Anything else, including nothing, will result in a disabled logon.
  • There is one exception. When doing an update import (change existing user instead of creating a new user) if the cell is blank it is ignored, not treated as "disabled". In other words, updating an enabled user with a blank "Logon" cell will not disable the user's logon.

Password file

The final page of the rep import provides the user with an excel file listing the username and password for the new users.

  • After the passwords are created there is no way to find out what they were. Without this feature the staff user would have to go into each agent user and manually change their password.
  • This also allows the staff user to prepare a form email to send each of the new agent users their logon information.
