Definition
[edit]
Columns
Columns are defined in an inventory designer. These are like custom fields.
[edit]
Permissions
Hidden, Read only, and Read & edit permission for the entire inventory by user type & role. Separate privilege for managing the inventory design and setup.
[edit]
For
Each inventory design can be made available to some type of data in RPM: customers, accounts, agencies, reps, suppliers, staff, forms of a process, or a library.

Use
- Inventory is shown and worked with as a grid, there isn't a "details" page per item.
- Each row has a number (ID). These must be consecutive so if a row is removed, the others are renumbered. It is like the row numbers in an Excel file except it is more like a count of items. Example: This row is equipment number 80 in the list.
- Add an item (in grid?)
- Edit an item (in grid?)
- Edit multiple items at once? (Like Apple iTunes. Would need a separate edit page)
- Delete an item or multiple items
- Drag & drop order change (another way to edit the row ID)
- Import
- Optional ID column in the import can indicate if this is an edit of an existing row or not. If not specified the row is added and given the next new ID.
- Download to Excel
- Sortable grid
- Paging? Might get in the way of multiple select/edit and add in grid.
- Views within an inventory?
- Reference inventory cells in other forms and views?
- Allow file attachments in rows? In other words, a "File attachment" field type.
- This would surely also be useful in process management and custom fields, however it may require the process management part of Saturn to be built first or at the same time.
- This functionality is already available as file attachments, however this would allow additional columns of information to be entered per file. Maybe that's a different way to build this functionality, build the ability to add columns to the existing file attachment feature.
- UI should use AJAX as much as possible to avoid pager reloads when adding, editing, deleting etc.
